CAUSES OF CEREBRAL PALSY


There are several causes of cerebra palsy. A brain injury which may have taken place during the development of fetus can lead to cerebral palsy. The cause of brain damage has not been understood by doctors but there are risk factors which have been found out to contribute to such condition.

Prenatal Infections and Complications

Viral encephalitis
Sepsis
Severe Jaundice
Viral encephalitis
Herpes group B

Maternal Infections


If a mother gets infected during pregnancy then it increases the chance of a child getting cerebral palsy. Some of the infections are:

 

Rubella
Toxoplasmosis
Infection of the bladder or kidney
Urinary tract infection

Children who have suffered brain damage during the actual delivery tend to suffer from cerebral palsy therefore injuries should be prevented at birth.
