CEREBRAL PALSY EFFECTS


Cerebral palsy refers to condition which is caused due to brain damage affecting the ability of the child to control their movement and posture. Depending on the severity of the brain injury, a kid suffering from cerebral palsy might also develop other effects and conditions.

Some of the effects of cerebral palsy are as follows:

 

Mental Retardation


It can lead to mental retardation and it has been found out that one third get mentally retarded.

 

Involuntary movements
This involves disturbance in walking, co-ordination, balancing and staying still.

 

Breathing Difficulties
It can lead to postural problems.

 

Dental problems
It leads to a number of dental problems such as cavities which might lead to difficulty during brushing.

 

Speech Impairment
It becomes difficult to understand speech because of poorly controlled muscles involved in speech production.

 

Feeding Trouble
Muscles for feeding might get impaired and this could lead to growth problems and malnutrition.

 

Skin problems
This might take place with soring of pressure.
