CEREBRAL PALSY EXERCISE


In case of patients suffering from cerebral palsy, exercise is not only good for the them but it is also necessary for the well being of the patient and loosen the muscles which tend to get constricted at times. Cerebral palsy exercises should be adapted to the needs of the patient but general movement must also be carried out.

 

Swimming, playing outdoors, weight resistance training and aerobic exercise tend to be counted among acceptable forms of exercises for patients suffering from cerebral palsy.

Some of the exercises for cerebral palsy patients are as follows:

Swimming tends to be a good exercise for cerebral palsy patients as water offers a lot of resistance and patients’ movement is less restricted.

Tight muscle must be stretched by working on the problem area for several minutes every day.

Arms and legs should be worked upon in a cycling motion with the help of hand machines or stationary bikes.

Aerobic exercises also need to be tried out such as walking, jogging and climbing of stairs.

Therapy bolsters and inflatable therapy balls can be used for stretching the tight muscles of the cerebral palsy patient.

Cerebral palsy exercise can also be carried out using ankle bands, weight wrist bands and small dumbbells.
