CEREBRAL PALSY SEIZURES

Around half of children suffering from cerebral palsy tend to experience seizures. Once a seizure take place you cannot stop it but you can take steps for making your child feel safe and comfortable.

One thing to be remembered in cerebral palsy seizures is to protect children from harm and monitoring the seizure. One should not attempt to hold the child still or preventing physical movement rather one should try to make the environment safe so that the patient is not hurt physically. The parent should always remain with the child during cerebral palsy seizure.

One should not try to interfere with cerebral palsy seizures. One should allow the cerebral palsy seizures to continue without interruption and the kid should be checked for breathing. In case the kid has stopped breathing, the airway should be cleaned and mouth to mouth breathing should be performed.

Around 50% of kids with cerebral palsy tend have seizures and episodes in which abnormal nerve activity tends to disturb the functioning of the brain. Children suffering from hemiplegia or quadriplegia are most likely to suffer from seizures.
