QUADRIPLEGIC CEREBRAL PALSY

Quadriplegic cerebral palsy tends to affect all limbs. Severe diplegia tends to be mistaken for mild quadriplegia as there seems to be some kind of overlap between terms and disagreement between what the proper diagnosis is.

There are different kinds of quadriplegic and they tend to vary in severity. Since quadriplegic children tend to have difficulties with eating therefore nutrition is quite important to ensure that the child gets enough nourishment. In case the child is not growing properly, the brain is also not getting what it requires for growth and development.

A child suffering from quadriplegic cerebral palsy might have oral motor dysfunction which can make chewing and swallowing quite difficult. It can lead to pneumonia and chronic aspiration.

In case of quadriplegic cerebral palsy both arms and both legs tend to get affected. Generally the trunk and muscles controlling the tongue, mouth and windpipe tends to get affected as well.
