SPASTIC CEREBRAL PALSY

Spastic cerebral palsy is one of the most common types of cerebral palsy which tends ro affect around 70 to 80% of all patients. It takes place when cerebral cortex gets damaged.

Spastic cerebral palsy tends to increase the tensions in the muscle. In case of spastic cerebral palsy, normal movement tends to get disrupted due to problems with the brain to nerve muscle coordination. The pairs of muscles do not tend to work in the manner they are supposed to in case of a normal person and this causes the muscles to remain tense or even lengthening of the muscle takes place.

Kids born with spastic cerebral palsy do not have deformities in the arms and legs but it can develop over time due to joint contracture. Portion of the treatment  involves learning to relax and de stress during physical training sessions which tends to avoid fatigue in excess.

Spastic cerebral palsy tends to affect the entire family of the child with the condition but there are treatments available but there is no permanent cure. Cerebral palsy takes place due to damage of the part of the brain which leads to poor muscle coordination and body movement.

Various types of spastic cerebral palsy are spastic hemiplegia, spastic diplegia and spastic quadriplegia. In case of spastic hemiplegia, the child tends to experience stiffness on just one side of the body and in certain circumstances the arms and hands tend to be more affected than legs.
