TYPES OF CEREBRAL PALSY


There are three main types of cerebral palsy:

 

Ataxic Cerebral Palsy
It is one of the rarest forms of cerebral palsy where the cerebellum gets damaged and the brain finds it difficult to control balance. The kid finds it difficult in coordinating their movements and find acute problems with balancing.

 

Spastic Cerebral Palsy
It is one of the most common forms of cerebral palsy where the cortex gets damaged which the part of the brain involved with controlling is thought movement and sensation. This leads to tightness of the muscles in both the arms and legs.

 

Athetiod Cerebral Palsy
This type of cerebral palsy takes place when the basal ganglion gets damaged and leads to uncoordinated, involuntary and uncontrolled movements of the muscles. This leads to uncontrolled and jerky movements along with twisting of  fingers and wrists which might affect all the limbs.
